The Light House Board of Directors announces that Elizabeth Kinney, Executive Director, will be officially stepping down from that position as of November 15, 2016, and will be assuming new roles with the organization.  She will continue her involvement with Light House as a member of the Light House Board of Directors, and effective immediately will also begin serving as the President of the Light House Social Enterprise LLC Board, which will oversee the new Light House Bistro and B.E.S.T. Catering at 206 West Street. The Light House Social Enterprise LLC will develop new training and job opportunities for the people served by The Light House, and build revenue streams to support the operating budget of The Light House.

In a transition period until November and to provide Mrs. Kinney the time necessary to fulfill these additional duties beginning in July, Teresa Fields, Light House Deputy Director, will take on increased involvement in managing the daily operations of the Light House. Mrs. Kinney will focus the majority of her time on preparing for the fall 2016 opening of the new Light House culinary arts venture, The Light House Bistro. This operation will be hiring a General Manager and a head Chef this summer to build the team, and then in the fall begin hiring graduates of our Building Employment Success Training (B.E.S.T.) programs to staff the restaurant. The Light House catering operations will also be operated out of this new facility, which served as the original Light House Shelter.

The Board of Directors will conduct a search for the next Executive Director, including both internal and external candidates, who will lead in innovative, effective ways to achieve the Light House mission of rebuilding lives with supportive services, employment and housing for those experiencing homelessness.

Susan Taylor President of the Light House Board stated, The Board is extremely grateful for the extraordinary contributions Elizabeth has made in her six years as our Executive Director. Her talents and passion for the mission have made the Light House a national leader in moving the homeless to self-sufficiency. During Elizabeth’s tenure The Light House has experienced great growth and success due primarily to her abilities to create extraordinary engagement of the community in our work. We are 87% privately funded, we could not do all the great work we do without the incredible contributions of all of our supporters.   We are delighted that she will continue in new ways to be involved and leading our work as we expand in exciting new directions.”
