Don’t wait for a communications crisis to consume you before you act. Prepare for it effectively and have PR and legal council on the same team working together. Attend “Crisis Planning- Do it Right” on June 23 from noon to 1:30 on June 23 at Union Jack’s in Annapolis. Communication in a time of crisis within an organization is crucial.  But why are the communicators and lawyers so often at odds with one another on response?  Whether the crisis is operational or reputational, a well thought out and exercised plan is essential for all parties to know their roles and responsibilities in advance. Join the Central Chesapeake Chapter of The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Annapolis and Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce to hear from two experts in the field of crisis management and crisis communications. What rises to the level of a true crisis and when and how to pull the trigger on your plan? That will be the focus of remarks by a PR crisis pro and a lawyer with similar experience. The program includes lunch and the cost is $25 for members and $30 for non-members. RSVP online at www.PRSAChesapeake.com by Monday, May 23rd. Call Katie Sushko, at 410-271-1498, Angie Howard, at 202-375-8486  or [email protected] for more information.

Speakers will be Steve Miller, attorney with Hogan Lovells Washington, DC office and former senior vice president, Constellation Energy Nuclear Group and Larry Walsh, Co-chair of The Hawthorn Group and head of the Alexandria, VA public affairs organization’s crisis management consulting team.  Miller has over 20 years of experience advising clients and companies on preparation for emerging issues and crisis situations as well as representing his clients in regulatory and policy arenas.  Walsh has more than 25 years of experience in the development and implementation of crisis management plans, communications plans and training for corporations, trade associations and risk management organizations.
