Aquino dominates, Baysox win series

Baysox 2016In a pivotal rubber match game with the Senators Wednesday afternoon Jayson Aquino starred with a seven scoreless inning dominating performance. The Baysox offense was on fire this series with another 13 hits in today ball game. The 8-0 shutout win was crucial as the Baysox look to mount a playoff push in the second half of the season.

The Baysox got out to an early lead in the top of the third inning. Julio Borbon extended his hit-streak to a season-high six game with a bunt single. Tucker Nathans followed with a single of his own to put runners on first and second with no outs. After a sac-bunt laid down by Garabez Rosa, a throwing error allowed Borbon to score and put runners on the corner. Sisco plated the second run with the Baysox third single of the inning for a 2-0 lead.

Bowie tacked on another run with two singles off the bats of Henry Urrutia and Austin Wynns. After a sac-bunt by Adrian Marin to move runners to second and third, Drew Dosch hit a sac-fly to extend the Baysox lead to 3-0.

Dosch had himself a day, with two outs in the top of the eighth inning he hit a solo home run to make the score 4-0.

After a 1-2-3 eight inning by Baysox reliever Jimmy Yacabonis the offense was back at it again. Bowie, courtesy of a grand slam by Henry Urrutia, saw four more runs on the scoreboard for the final score of 8-0.

Senators starter Greg Ross earned his first loss of the season as he pitched six innings and allowed three runs on eight hits.

Aquino threw seven scoreless innings and allowed just two hits while striking out six and walking five batters in the win. Yacabonis completed the two-hitter with two innings of work in relief of Aquino.
