Annapolis’ Stanton Community Center to expand hours

stantonCenterMayor Michael Pantelides and Ward Two Alderman Fred Paone announce that the Stanton Community Center Youth Recreation Programs will be available to the public on the weekends, starting on July 1.

The Stanton Community Center, located at 92 West Washington Street in Annapolis, will offer an open gym opportunity to anyone who wants to come to the center and use the facility.

“Our residents take full advantage of the numerous programs and services offered during the week and it just makes sense to offer an open gym opportunity on the weekends to increase the recreational opportunities offered.”

The additional hours will be:

  • Saturdays during April to November from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturdays during December to March from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. all year long

“I am glad to know that we will be able to offer more choices to our families when it comes to staying active,” Ward Two Alderman Paone said. “I know our youth will welcome an opportunity to play basketball, along with other activities that will spontaneously become available as more participate.”

The center will not change its workday hours. Hours of operation remain:

  • 3 p.m.- 9 p.m. Monday-Friday for the Youth Recreation Program

The Stanton Community Center has provided a number of services to the community and features offices, multi-purpose gymnasium, a commercial kitchen, fitness area, historic classroom, a media center with computers, and two conference rooms, all available to the public. The Stanton Center also offers a wide variety of superior programs and activities that encourage physical and social health, community pride, and relaxation.
