Walk-off dooms Baysox for second straight game

Baysox2016For a second consecutive night the Baysox had to watch Erie celebrate a walk-off win at Jerry Uht Park. On this Saturday evening the loss came after an Erie two-run eighth inning rally tied the game. In the bottom of the ninth, Jason Krizan hit his sixth home run of the season, a high drive to right field to end the ballgame with the home side on top 5-4.

Bowie (16-19) led early and throughout. An error on Erie first baseman John Hicks led to two Baysox second inning runs to start off the scoring. In the third inning, Quincy Latimore singled home a run with two down to bring Bowie’s lead to 3-0. Latimore had his second consecutive three-hit night.

Up 3-2 in the sixth inning, Chris O’Brien hit his second leadoff double of the night. He came around to score on two wild pitches from reliever Santiago Garrido. The 4-2 lead was not enough though.

The Baysox got a strong start from Jayson Aquino who allowed just two runs in six innings. Bowie also got into Erie’s pen early as Seawolves starter Lucas Harrell exited after 111 pitches in just 4 and 2/3rd innings. The majority of the game was played in a light rain shower.

The series concludes Sunday, May 15th in Erie as David Hess looks to lead the Baysox to series split. First pitch is slated for 1:35 p.m. from Jerry Uht Park. Coverage will begin 20-minutes prior on wnav.com and via the Tune-In Radio App by searching Baysox.

Bowie is back at home Tuesday, May 17th for a three-game series with Reading in a 2015 Eastern League Championship Series rematch. Tickets are available at 301-805-6000 or online at baysox.com
