Leukemia & Lymphoma Society announces “Off the Water” race teams and partnership with Porsche of Annapolis

Leukemia CupCalling all Sailors and Annapolis Community Members! You are invited to participate in the Annual Leukemia Cup Regatta, a signature event of the Maryland Chapter Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Leukemia Cup first began in Annapolis 24 years ago and has since been duplicated in 46 sailing and boating communities all over the country. In 2015, over 11,000 sailors, friends, and sponsors participated!

A joint effort of the Eastport Yacht Club and Annapolis Yacht Club, the Annapolis Leukemia Cup Regatta is designed to raise funds for research to cure blood related cancers like leukemia and lymphoma. The On the Water Regatta is on June 4th, 2016 and offers racing and cruising at its best for a variety of classes of boats- Multihulls, Cal 25, Alerion Express 28, Harbor 20, J/22, J/24, J/70, J/80, J/30, J/35, J/105, PHRF, and CRCA Cruising.

Help Save Lives – Join the “Off the Water Fundraising Race” and make a direct impact on the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! In the Off the Water fundraising race, sailors and community members have an opportunity to help fund research for blood cancer cures through a friendly fundraising competition. Trophies are given to the team that raises the most funds and the fleet that has the most boats on the water in the Regatta June 4th.

To date the fundraising teams are:

Team AYC, Team Chesapeake Alerion Express 28, Team CBC/J-World, Team CRCA, Team EYC, Team Harbor 20, Team Single on Sailboats, Team SSA, Team J/70, Team J/80

Contact your crews, friends, neighbors, and club members today to join or form a fundraising team, and register for these fun and important events. If your fleet, club, or community is not represented on the list above, you’ll be missing out on a thrilling and enjoyable event. Funds raised by the Annapolis Leukemia Cup Regatta will benefit Maryland patients and will be used for research, patient aid and education and improve the quality of life for patients and their families. The Leukemia Cup Regattas have raised more than $50 million since its inception in Annapolis in 1993!

Annapolis Leukemia Cup. Exclusive car displays will be featured at the June 3rd weekend events, and at a special lead up event – Wednesday Night Racing Leukemia Cup Launch Party at EYC on May 11th. To attend this private event, contact Event Manager Corinne Mayers at [email protected].

The Leukemia Cup event weekend will be kicked off by the Summer Gala and Auction, themed “Seersucker & Linen” at the Annapolis Maritime Museum on Friday, June 3rd from 6:30 – 9:30pm. Tickets are $95 and must be purchased in advance. The Regatta begins off the shores of EYC at 10am Saturday, June 4th. In addition to the Regatta on Saturday, a special “All Hands on Deck Kids Kruz for Survivors”, which recognizes survivors and patients in the local community, will be held at EYC (by invitation only). EYC rounds out the festivities with the After Race Party Rock the Dock! Party for a Cure on Saturday following the Regatta. Enjoy live music by Swamp Donkey Newgrass and Pressing Strings, BBQ by Grills on Wheels, and Goslings Rum and beer. General Admission tickets are $25 which includes a BBQ dinner and one drink ticket. All Inclusive tickets are $65 which includes BBQ dinner and all you can drink.

The public is invited to attend both social events and enjoy watching the Regatta.
