Col. McCreedy named as AACC’s Commencement Speaker

McCreedy, Ph.D., has been named to give the commencement speech at Anne Arundel Community College's 54th Commencement on Thursday, May 26, held under the big tent on the college's Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. McCreedy, Ph.D., has been named to give the commencement speech at Anne Arundel Community College’s 54th Commencement on Thursday, May 26, held under the big tent on the college’s Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. Because of space limitations, attendance is by invitation only.

Retired U.S. Army Col. Kenneth O. McCreedy, Ph.D., will give the 54th Commencement address to Anne Arundel Community College’s graduates at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 26, under the big tent on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway.

Col. McCreedy spent 28 years in the Army, with his last post as the installation commander at Fort George Meade. While there, he made community outreach and improved opportunities for Fort Meade-area schools his top priorities. Since his retirement in 2008, he has worked in both the private sector and government, serving since November as the senior director for Cyber and Aerospace Business and Economic Development in the Maryland Department of Commerce. 

His focus on education is a lifelong interest. Before entering the Army, he earned a bachelor’s degree in History from Washington and Lee University and a master’s degree in American History from University of California at Berkeley. During his Army career, he continued his education, earning a doctorate in History from the University of California at Berkeley and two more master’s degrees, a Master of Military Arts and Science from the School of Advanced Military Studies at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and a Master of Strategic Studies at the U.S. Army War College.

Seating for the Commencement ceremony is by invitation only due to space limitations. The ceremony will be shown live in the Robert E. Kauffman Theater in the Pascal Center for Performing Arts and air live on the college website, http://www.aacc.edu/aacctv/live and via AACC TV on Anne Arundel County cable channels 35 for Verizon FiOS, 95 on Comcast (995 high definition) and 95 Broadstripe (495 high definition).
