Sam’s House: Burritos for Beds

Sam House Burritos for bedsCelebrating new beginnings and building for the future are the dual themes for an event to be hosted this spring by the Samaritan House, an Annapolis addiction recovery facility.

Thursday, May 5, from 7-10 am, the public is invited to the Third Annual Burritos for Beds breakfast fundraiser at Chevy’s Tex Mex (2436 Solomons Island Rd, Annapolis). That morning, guests will enjoy a delicious breakfast and have opportunity to make a donation to the Samaritan House online, via computers set up courtesy of Alpha Engineering. Checks or cash also gratefully accepted.

Burritos for Beds originated in 2014 as part of the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County’s now defunct Great Give, a 24-hour fundraising effort for county non-profits. Because of the success Burritos for Beds yielded over the years, Samaritan House is continuing the tradition.

“We found that Burritos for Beds was a tremendous opportunity for us to connect with the community and share more information about our mission,” said Michael Goldfaden, executive director of Samaritan House. “With all the headlines about the destruction that addiction causes in our community, it’s important to celebrate the positives in the recovery field and let folks know how they can help with the work we do.”

Funds raised at the Burritos for Beds event will go toward the ongoing Campus of Recovery expansion project, which will double the number of beds Samaritan House currently has available for men recovering from addiction.

Samaritan House is a state certified addiction recovery facility in Annapolis serving the region for over 40 years. For more information, see www.samaritanhouseannapolis.com
