Layout 1Annapolis Musicians Fund for Musicians will host a benefit concert paying tribute to the iconic late pop star Prince on Monday, May 2nd at Union Jacks in Annapolis. Local artists will cover songs from the extensive library of songs written by Prince over his career.  Tickets are $15 in advance at www.UnionJacksAnnapolis.com and $20 at the door with all proceeds benefitting the non-profit AMFM.  The show starts at 7:30 PM and doors open at 6 PM.

Artists performing for the show include Angela Charles, Tony Waddy, P.J. Thomas, Timmie Metz Band, Meg Murray, Bryan Ewald, Brian Goddard, Carolyn Moyer, Larry Byrne, Jenn Byrne, Chanssez, Kajun Kelley, Jimi Haha, Charles Kavoossi, Dan Haas, Krunchyfunknstein, Gina Cocco, Tambo, Mike McHenry, Gillian Thompson Project, Higher Hands, Eric Scott, and an all-star finale.  Between acts, DJ Michael K will entertain the crowd with music scanning Prince’s career.

In January, AMFM paid tribute to David Bowie, which sold out in record time with over two dozen artists playing their favorite Bowie cover songs to pay homage to the late Starman, who passed a week earlier.

“Within minutes of the news, we started getting requests from artists to hold a tribute concert for Prince because he was such a large part of 80’s and 90’s pop music – an era where many of us came of age,” says Sean O’Neill, AMFM vice president and one of the show’s producers.

“As musicians, we look towards the stage as a way to share our love and appreciation of these legendary artists, so it’s a nice way to show our appreciation for his contribution to the music world,” says P.J. Thomas, AMFM secretary, performer and co-producer of the show.
