Maryland State Trooper saves life at Annapolis MVA

mspA Maryland State Trooper assigned to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division is being commended today. His quick actions may have saved the life of a man, who had a medical emergency yesterday while visiting the Motor Vehicle Administration.

Corporal Joe Wilson was on duty as the security officer yesterday at the Annapolis Motor Vehicle Administration, where a 71-year-old man had been awaiting to be called to complete his transaction.

On April 27, 2016 shortly before 5:00 p.m., a patron reported an unconscious man, located in the waiting area to Cpl. Wilson. He responded to where the unconscious man was seated.  Cpl. Wilson discovered that the man had no pulse, was not breathing, and immediately began cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Cpl. Wilson continued CPR until medics arrived with an automated electronic defibrillator (AED).

The unconscious man was stabilized and had an intermittent pulse. Responding medics transported the man to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where he was treated.
