“I’m sorry for what I’m about to do” threat prompts South River lockdown

UPDATE: At 338pm, Anne Arundel County Police advised that the teen has been located and is safe. The vehicle was located on Solomons Island Road near Lee Airpark Road

All schools in the South River cluster for Anne Arundel County Public Schools were locked down early this afternoon after a direct threat was made against South River High School.  While information was limited from the schools, the Anne Arundel County Police are still searching for a suspect in connection with the incident. The suspect is believed to be driving a late model silver Acura TL with the license plate 7FRT24.

We spoke to a student in the school who told us that the 18 year old in question is a senior at DeMatha High School and was involved in a fight at a party on Monday in which a video was recorded and posted to social media. He apparently posted a threat to Facebook that read, “I’m sorry for what I’m about to do” which prompted the response. It is unknown at this point if the suspect ever was on school property.

Students were sheltered in the school and dismissal began approximately 40 minutes late under heavy police surveillance which included K-9 units, many patrol officers, and a helicopter.

At this time, police are still searching for the suspect and we will update this stories as more information becomes available.
