Box of Rain, an Annapolis-based 501(c)3 organization that mentors disadvantaged Annapolis youth, is hosting its annual spring fundraiser at Wine Cellars of Annapolis on Sunday, April 17, from 5 pm – 8 pm. The event will offer a fun-filled evening with an auction of art works by local artists and live jazz by the Unified Jazz Ensemble Trio. Grapes Wine Bar and Wine Cellars of Annapolis—known for their award-winning cuisine and exceptional wines—will be catering the event in the warm ambience of their Barrel Room at Clocktower Place. Annapolis Volvo is presenting sponsor of the event and all proceeds will benefit Box of Rain. Tickets are $125 per guest and can be purchased online at http://www.boxofrainannapolis.org/naptown_uncorked. Those who can’t make the event can still contribute to Box of Rain by purchasing $100 raffle tickets for a chance to win a 5-night stay at Relais & Chateaux’s 5-star La Coquillade in Provence. The trip also includes tours of the region’s best vineyards. The raffle winner does not need to be present at Naptown Uncorked to win. Raffle tickets can be purchased online at http://www.boxofrainannapolis.org/provence. Box of Rain serves more than 60 at-risk youth through its year-round mentoring programs. Most of those served reside in Annapolis public housing. The organization was formed in 2003 to honor the memory of Lee Griffin, a dedicated sailor and Annapolis community member who was the victim of a violent crime. Its mission for our town’s disadvantaged youth is to nurture self-esteem and develop life skills that lead to positive contributions to the community.
