UPDATE: Eye On Annapolis was sent an excerpt of the essay.
An essay in an AP class has caused concern amongst faculty and some students.
The assignment was to write an essay utilizing the style of a Jonathan Swift novel, A Modest Proposal, from the 1700s, which satirically posed the idea of poor people selling babies to the wealthy for food.
The student who wrote the essay did so in a similar manner, yet referenced present day African Americans.
The school sent home a letter explaining the conversations that were being held amongst students and faculty and reiterated that all students are treated fairly.
In a meeting of the Caucus of African American Leaders, activist Carl Snowden mentioned that he had been informed and would have more information shortly.
Are you kidding me with the softball piece? How about post the actual paper the student wrote speaking of the disease of the “Negro” & sending all “Negroes” to Saudi Arabia & exterminating them with a nuclear blast. Then teacher awarding it with an A.
If you have a copy of the essay, please send it to [email protected] We did not see the essay. It is also my understanding that the student did NOT get an A.
