Jennifer G. Lara, professor of education at Anne Arundel Community College, is one of 10 people nationwide named to the American Association of Community Colleges new Faculty Advisory Council.
The council will provide strategic advice to the American Association of Community Colleges president and staff on the role faculty can play in three key areas – developing academic and career pathways for students, initiating a national standard for credentials and redesigning developmental education. Council input also will help the association create professional development to provide leadership skills to faculty to help them implement the key initiatives.
Lara came to Anne Arundel Community College in 2000, teaching classroom strategy courses for the Teacher Education and Child Care (TEACH) Institute. She also is a certified coach and teaches professional development classes to faculty and staff on ways to become more effective and goal-oriented.For information about AACC’s TEACH Institute programs, visit http://www.aacc.edu/teach
