Southwest to offer non-stop service BWI to Sacramento in August

southwestSouthwest Airlines announced its August 2016 schedule update today, including a new transcontinental flight addition for Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall).  Starting August 7, Southwest will begin year-round, nonstop service between BWI Marshall and California’s Sacramento International Airport.  Sacramento is a new market for BWI Marshall.

“We are excited about this new flight option, which will be a tremendous benefit for business and leisure travelers,” said Ricky Smith, Chief Executive Officer for BWI Marshall.  “This is the first time we have had nonstop service to Sacramento.  The added service means more travelers can experience the excellent customer service and convenience provided by both Southwest and BWI Marshall.”

The new flights from Southwest would be the only year-round service between Sacramento and the Washington-Baltimore region.

Passenger traffic continues to grow at BWI Marshall.  More than 23.8 million passengers flew through BWI Marshall in 2015, an all-time record for passenger traffic.  Southwest Airlines is the largest carrier at BWI.
