South River High School to hold Play-A-Thon this Friday

south-river-senior-highThe Orchestra and Concert Band of South River High School are holding a 6-hour Play-A-Thon on Friday, March 11, 2016. The event will begin at 2:30 PM and culminate in a concert that runs from 8-8:30 PM. Event coordinators anticipate 100 students and 35 adult volunteers.

“The Play-A-Thon is designed to be a fun and educational event where performing groups come together to enhance skills. Guest professional conductors and musicians from the local area will be volunteering their time to provide instruction and direction. We are looking forward to a great day of music and learning!” explains Jerry Cavanaugh, South River’s Instrumental Music Director.

And, because the SRHS music program has made a commitment to serve the community, the event will include a food collection to support the local food bank.

The event is coordinated by the South River Music Boosters. Family members, pledgers and other guests are invited to volunteer throughout the day and/or attend the 8 PM concert.
