underage_drinkingThe Anne Arundel County Department of Health’s Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Education Program is seeking local organizations to coordinate substance abuse prevention coalitions in Anne Arundel County or the City of Annapolis. Maryland Strategic Prevention Framework Community Implementation Grant(s) of up to $23,350 will be awarded to lead substance abuse prevention coalitions in locally defined geographic areas of Anne Arundel County starting May 1, 2016. The funding will be used for the implementation of evidence-based prevention strategies that are specifically designed to reduce the prevalence of underage drinking, binge drinking or other substance abuse in the community.

The deadline for applications will be Friday, April 22, 2016, at noon. Applicants are required to attend the Pre-Application Workshop on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. which will be held at the Anne Arundel County Economic Development Office, 2660 Riva Road, Heritage Complex, Second Floor Conference Room, Annapolis, Maryland 21401.

The coalitions help prevent youth substance abuse and its negative consequences by assessing community needs; building community capacity; creating and maintaining a strategic plan; implementing environmental strategies; and evaluating coalition processes and strategies.
