County health department seeks applicants for grants

heroinThe Anne Arundel County Department of Health’s Opioid Misuse Prevention Program (OMPP) is seeking local organizations to assist a countywide OMPP workgroup with the implementation of the county’s OMPP Strategic Plan to reduce prescription opioid misuse and overdoses.  Community implementation grant(s) of up to $36,000 will be awarded to implement evidence-based strategies throughout Anne Arundel County starting May 1, 2016.

The funding will be used to develop and implement the following strategies: a community presentation to educate the public on how to properly store and monitor prescription medications; an educational guide for prescribers to help educate patients on the dangers of prescription opioid abuse; and an educational guide for pharmacists to help educate patients on the dangers of prescription opioid abuse.

The deadline for applications will be Friday, April 22, 2016, at noon. Applicants are required to attend the Pre-Application Workshop on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. at the Anne Arundel County Economic Development Office, 2660 Riva Road, Second Floor Conference Room, Annapolis, Maryland 21401.
