As the investigation continued throughout the week, the Anne Arundel County Evidence Collection Unit and Crime Laboratory Section sifted through the evidence from both crime scenes. Forensic Chemists were able to recover a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) profile from a pair of latex gloves discarded near the Cathedral Drive burglary. During a search of the State DNA Index System (SDIS), a DNA match occurred linking a male suspect to the Cathedral Drive burglary. The DNA recovered from the glove matched that of Kevin Hamilton Manning, a twenty-five (25) year old white male.

On Wednesday, February 10, 2016 during the early afternoon hours, detectives from the Special Enforcement Section located Mr. Manning in the 200 block of Crain Court, Glen Burnie, Maryland where he was taken into custody without incident. Mr. Manning was transported to the Anne Arundel County Police Criminal Investigation Division where detectives interviewed him. During the interview Mr. Manning admitted his involvement in committing the two burglaries on February 5, 2016 (Hancock Lane and Cathedral Drive).

Mr. Manning has an address listed in the 2100 block of Phillips Road in Tilghman, Maryland but investigation revealed he had been staying at locations in close proximity of the crime scenes. Sex Crimes detectives executed a search warrant and completed multiple searches at other locations. During the extensive searches, detectives recovered additional evidence linking him to the burglary and child sex offense crimes.

While in custody, the suspect requested medical attention, which he was provided. Upon being released from the hospital, Mr. Manning was booked and processed on his open Anne Arundel County arrest warrant. Mr. Manning was charged with the following crimes:

Cathedral Drive Burglary:

  • -First Degree Burglary
  • -Third Degree Burglary,
  • -Fourth Degree Burglary-Dwelling
  • -Fourth Degree Burglary-Theft.

Hancock Lane burglary/Child Sex Offense:

  • -Third Degree Burglary
  • -Fourth Degree Burglary-Dwelling
  • -Third Degree Sex Offense,
  • -Fourth Degree Sex Offense,
  • -Second Degree Assault.

Mr. Manning was initially held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $450,000.00 but after his bail review and with the assistance of the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office he was placed on a no bond status.

Even though an arrest has been made the Anne Arundel County Police are still urging any other victims or anyone with information to come forward by calling the Sex Offense Unit at 410-222-4732. If people with information wish to remain anonymous they can also contact the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line 410-222-4700 or Metro Crime Stoppers.
