AACC to celebrate Women’s History Month in March

College Fair 14_195 This year’s College Fair is March 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the David S. Jenkins Gymnasium at Anne Arundel Community College. Get your questions answered in person from representatives from more than 150 colleges who are expected to be there. COMMUNITY

March 7 – 10-11:40 a.m. Film and discussion, “Don’t Tell Anyone,” Humanities Building Room 125, part of the Women’s Institute film series on the theme, “Human Rights and Human Wrongs.” This film tells the story of Angy, who came to the United States at age 4 as an undocumented resident and grew up in the shadows until as a young adult she became an activist for undocumented youth. March 8 – 9-10:30 a.m. Discussion – Congresswoman Donna F. Edwards will hold an environmental roundtable, “Environmental Challenges and the Impact on Maryland Communities,” to bring together local community members, scientists, economists and policy experts to discuss global warming, climate change, growing environmental concerns, ongoing environmental injustices and both public and private challenges, solutions and successes; Cade Center for Fine Arts Room 219; free.

March 29 – 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Discussion – The film “Hard-Hatted Woman,” part of AACC’s Women’s History Month, Cade Center for Fine Arts Room 219. The film explores the challenges and the triumphs of women who are breaking down barriers to work in blue-collar construction trades, featuring filmmaker Lorien Barlow and Ambra Melendez, who is highlighted in the film. March 31 – 11 a.m.-noon Lecture, “Elsa Lankford Speaks,” part of AACC’s Women’s History Month, Cade Center for Fine Arts Room 219.
