7-Year old girl reports sex offense in Glen Burnie, police investigating possible related burglary

burglaryOn Friday, February 5, 2016 at approximately 6:15 a.m., Northern District Patrol Officers responded to the 7700 block of Hancock Lane, Glen Burnie, Maryland for Sex Offense of a seven (7) year old female child. The child reported at approximately 5:55 a.m. a white male had reached into her window. As he reached in from the outside the male then touched the child before leaving the area.

Anne Arundel County Sex Crimes Detectives and Northern District Detectives responded to the area assisted by the Evidence Collection Unit. The detectives canvassed the area for any witnesses and items of evidentiary value. A police K-9 conducted a track in the area of occurrence to assist with locating the suspect but was met with negative results. The suspect is described as a white male with a brown beard, a tattoo on his arm and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

Anne Arundel County Police believe that this assault may be related to a burglary later in the morning.

On Friday February 5, 2016 at approximately 7:12 a.m., Northern District Patrol Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cathedral Drive, Glen Burnie, Maryland for a Burglary. An adult female heard a noise and when she went to investigate she observed an unknown person standing in her kitchen. The person, who was dressed in black clothing, grabbed an item off the kitchen table and fled on foot.

Northern District Detectives Unit responded to the area and was assisted by the Evidence Collection Unit. Investigation revealed the suspect forced entry into the residence causing damage. A Police K-9 conducted a track and located items related to this burglary in a nearby open field. A canvass was conducted in which witnesses reported they observed an unknown male dressed in dark clothing walking through the area and was also observed pulling on doors.

The suspect is described as an unknown race, possibly male wearing dark clothing in which a witness described as a hoody.

At this time the Criminal Investigation Sex Offense Unit is working in conjunction with Northern District Detectives as these two burglaries are possibly related. The above burglaries occurred approximately one and a half hours apart and were located within approximately a quarter mile of each other. In both instances the suspect’s clothing description is described as being similar as he committed these crimes.
