Pedestrian killed in Severna Park

pedestrian accidentOn January 4, 2016 at approximately 7:12 p.m. officers responded to the report of a pedestrian struck on Earleigh Heights Road W at Truck House Lane in Severna Park. Investigation shows that a Toyota Corolla was eastbound on Earleigh Heights Road W when it struck a pedestrian (Robert Lee Dehn, 51, of no fixed address) in the roadway just prior to Truck House Road. The Dehn was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.   The occupants of the Toyota, Willard and Kathy Passauer of Millersville, were not injured.

The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be the pedestrian not yielding to vehicular traffic while crossing the roadway outside a crosswalk. A contributing circumstance was the darkness and limited street lighting. Neither speed nor alcohol appears to be involved in this case.

Traffic Safety is handling the investigation. Any charges are pending review by the States Attorney.
