Living Well With Diabetes – a FREE workshop

The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities and the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center will be partnering to present free Diabetes workshops next month.  The workshops will be held at the Glen Burnie Regional Library at 1010 Eastway, Glen Burnie, MD.

The “Living Well With Diabetes” workshop is appropriate for participants with Pre-Diabetes, or Type 2 Diabetes.  This program teaches participants how to manage their blood sugar levels, count carbohydrates and provides information about reading nutrition labels.  It also engages the participants in appropriate exercise and assists in managing symptoms associated with both high and low blood sugar levels.

Over the course of 6 weeks, participants come once a week for 2.5 hours.  Classes are interactive and educational.  Classes will start Thursday, February 4th from 9:30 a.m to 12:00 p.m. and will meet for 6 consecutive Thursday mornings with the last class being held on Thursday, March 10th.  Registration is required.  Class size is limited to 20.

To register, contact the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities at 410-222-4464 or refer to the website www.aacounty.org/aging in the Living Well series, or call Pamela Toomey at 410-222-4366.  TTY users, please call via Maryland Relay 7-1-1.
