A holiday kick-off celebration at one local restaurant led to a merrier Christmas for 10 Annapolis families in need.

Proceeds from the First Annual Blackwall Bash Merry Motown Celebration, held on December 5th at the restaurant’s Sixth Street location, went toward providing a holiday meal prepared by award-winning Chef Zachary Pope, along with children’s gifts to ten families living in Annapolis public housing. Blackwall Hitch staff delivered the food and toys to each family on Christmas Eve.

“We are part of this community and look for ways we can make a difference,” said James King, CEO of Blackwall’s parent company Mid-States Management. “It was gratifying to see the response from not only the folks who joined us for the Blackwall Bash, but also from our restaurant staff who took this project to heart and played Santa on Christmas Eve. We look forward to continuing this tradition next year.”

The First Annual Blackwall Bash featured music from renowned regional band NightLife along with endless champagne and hors d’oeuvres by Chef Pope. Proceeds from ticket sales went toward providing the holiday meals. The Second Annual Blackwall Bash is tentatively scheduled for mid-November of 2016.
