Lindsey MendezTickets are almost sold out!

Annapolis’ holiday celebrations get some extra star power this year when Broadway star Lindsay Mendez joins Live Arts Maryland for “A Celebration of Christmas” on Friday, Dec. 11, at 8 p.m. at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts.  This annual holiday pops concert is a joyous blend of everyone’s favorite songs, like “White Christmas” and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” performed by the Annapolis Chorale and Annapolis Chamber Orchestra conducted by Music Director J. Ernest Green.  The audience gets into the act, too, with a special holiday carol sing-along.

Ms. Mendez is best known for starring as Elphaba in the smash hit, Wicked, and was in the cast of the hit 2011 revival of Godspell.  She also received a Drama Desk Nomination, Outer Critics Circle Nomination, and a Drama League nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Musical for her performance as Rose Fenny in the Off-Broadway musical, Dogfight.  In addition to her Broadway work, Ms. Mendez is an accomplished jazz singer and performs with her own group, LMandMP, with pianist Marco Paguia.  In the spring of 2013, the group made its Lincoln Center debut with the American Songbook Series.

Says Mr. Green, “Our holiday concerts are our gift to the community and I’m thrilled that Lindsay is joining us this year.  Nothing lifts your spirits more than music and we hope people will spend some time with us this December doing just that.”

Tickets for “A Celebration of Christmas” are available online at www.liveartsmaryland.org.  They may also be purchased at the Maryland Hall Box Office online or by calling 410-280-5640.  Additional information can also be found at www.liveartsmaryland.org.

Live Arts Maryland, J. Ernest Green, Music Director, is one of the region’s largest and most active non-profit arts organizations and is home to the Annapolis Chorale, the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra, Cantori and the St. Anne’s Concert Series.  It offers music education programs for singers of all ages, including the Student Rush free ticket program, a scholarship program for high-school music students and workshops for adults.  The Annapolis Chorale is a resident company of Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and is supported by the Maryland State Arts Council, the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis.
