The movie industry has the Oscars, and the music industry has the Grammys. Did you know that Volkswagen Service has the Annual National Volkswagen Service Qualification Award?
Kevin Howard from Fitzgerald Auto Mall Volkswagen in Annapolis is one of twelve technicians chosen for the Final 2015 Competition from a field of 900 technicians. Howard was the 2nd Place winner in this competition in 2012.
Initial screening started in April with online tests that were very difficult and time consuming; the 900 technicians each spent upwards of 30 to 40 hours to complete the questions. By late June, only half of the technicians progressed to the second round of online testing. The questions increased in complexity and covered a wider range of material. By the end of the summer, 50 technicians qualified to be tested on a variety of skills, including diagnostic process, theory, technical procedures, and customer handling skills. Howard moved on to the finals and is now one of the 12 finalists. They were tested over a two-day period on various disciplines.
