Despite a lingering Nor’easter, a large majority of the 232 golfers registered for the Hospice of the Chesapeake’s 13th Annual Golf Tournament showed up ready to play. They donned rain suits and played through on Oct. 1 at the Queenstown Harbor Golf Links, helping to raise more than $100,000 for the nonprofit headquartered in Pasadena.

Christine Wilson, Hospice of the Chesapeake’s Director of Advancement, said they were very pleased with the turnout for the event, which the nonprofit’s staff informally dubbed “Swinging in the Rain.”  “While we didn’t have the weather we had hoped for, many players turned out and had a good time despite the rain,” Wilson said, thanking sponsors, golfers, volunteers, donors and staff for their support. “It’s all about the mission.”

The presenting sponsor was First National Bank, with co-sponsors Greenberg Gibbons Commercial, Tech USA and Carpet & Wood Floors Liquidators.  Proceeds from the tournament directly benefit Hospice of the Chesapeake’s mission of caring for life throughout the journey with illness and loss.
