Bosom Buddies tourney raises more than $16K

The 2015 Bosom Buddies Swings Golf Tournament was held on September 14 at Prospect Bay Country Club, and the event raised over $16,000 for Bosom Buddies Charities (BBC). Over 100 people participated in the tournament, which began with a continental breakfast before the start of the tournament. The golfers then enjoyed a beautiful day on the course followed by a luncheon, silent auction, and an awards ceremony. Team winners were: Christine Dilts, DeeDee Murphy, Karen Seibell, and Lori Yacobi (ladies); Phil Dumenil, Carey Gates, Robert Ingram, and Van LaFermine (men); and Bob Flynn, Liz & George Young (mixed). Other winners included Karen Seibel, Mary Rubin, Roni Haggart, Kathy Northrop (closest to pin ladies); Leo Miller, Gregg Todd, Rip Stilson, and Mike Glowacki (closest to pin men); Karen Seibel (longest drive ladies twice); Rip Stilson and Jay Jacobs (longest drive men); Eileen MacFarlane and Christine Dilts (straightest drive ladies); and Mike Harris and Joe Candella (straightest drive men).

Committee members Kathy & Don Trotter, Karen White, Olga Hofmann, and Mary Beth Moran are very appreciative of all the community support that made this event so successful, including the generous corporate sponsors, hole sponsors, players and nonplayers, silent auction donors, and volunteers.

Bosom Buddies Charities is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and to date it have raised over $1 million. Its mission is to promote breast cancer awareness, encourage early detection, support treatment, and celebrate healing. Over the years, Bosom Buddies Charities has provided grants to Anne Arundel Medical Center Breast Center, UM Shore Regional Breast Center, Compass Regional Hospice, and other cancer support groups.

Upcoming events benefiting Bosom Buddies Charities include a Paint Nite on October 6 and Crabs for a Cure on October 14, both to be held at Harris Crab House; Sweet Frog on October 22 (10% of sales will be donated to BBC); Across the Bay 10K on November 8, and the Bosom Buddies Ball on January 9, 2016, at the Westin Annapolis Hotel.
