Police make arrest in graffitied threats against police

Shanor, ZacharyThis is a follow up to a previous story about threats against the Anne Arundel County Police which were spray painted on various buildings and signs.

Northern District Detectives assumed responsibility for the investigation and began following up on potential leads. After reviewing surveillance video at various places, as well as additional investigative means, Detectives were eventually able to develop a suspect, Zachary Adam Shanor. While investigating the suspect further, they noticed that in fact there was more graffiti spray painted on the street in the area of Upland Road between Camrose Avenue and Haile Avenue. This graffiti also referenced killing cops and happened to be only a few hundred feet from the suspect’s house. It was learned that the suspect, Zachary Shanor was in fact already in custody at Northern District on an unrelated shoplifting charge. Detectives were able to interview Shanor, where he in turn provided a full confession. When advised of the arrest, Chief Altomare stated, “As we knew would happen from the beginning, this case was closed with a combination of good police work and with help from the folks in the Brooklyn Park community. The Anne Arundel County Police Department would like to thank the community for stepping up and helping us identify the suspect in this case before the situation could get truly dangerous”.

Zachary Adam Shanor , 26 yoa, of Camrose Avenue Baltimore, MD was charged with six counts of malicious destruction of property and is currently being held at Jennifer Road Detention Center on $30,000 bond.
