The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works (DPW) has closed Riedel Road in Crofton between Chelmsford Drive and Johns Hopkins Road for emergency repairs to the golf cart access bridge over Riedel Road. The action to close the road was taken after Walden Country Club officials notified DPW Bureau of Highways that an inspection of the bridge indicated an unsafe condition with a potential for collapse.
The Walden Country Club owns the bridge and is responsible for its inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Riedel Road will not reopen to traffic until repair work is complete. The duration of this road closure is expected to be one week.
DPW crews have placed barriers Riedel Road to secure the road closure. The primary detour routes include Johns Hopkins Road, Route 3, and Route 424. Detour and road closure signs have also been posted in the area to alert motorists.
