UPDATE #1 (From AACoPD)

At approximately 8:00 pm tonight officers responded to a citizens complaint of possible gun shots heard in the area of Washington Avenue and Bay Highlands Drive in Annapolis.  When officers arrived, they located an adult male with upper body trauma, laying deceased in the roadway.  At this time there are no other victims, and no witnesses. Detectives are en route to the scene to investigate. This is still a very fresh/active investigation and cannot confirm 100% if victims injuries were or were not self inflicted.

At approximately 8pm tonight, 6 to 7 shots rang out on Bay Highlands Drive near the intersection of Washington Avenue in the Annapolis section of Anne Arundel County. This is in the COUNTY, not the City of Annapolis.

When police arrived on the scene, they discovered a deceased young male in the middle of the road. There was no further description.

Helicopters have been deployed in the search for a suspect and it is unknown if they fled on foot or by vehicle. Residents in the nearby communities are encouraged to turn on their outside lights and make sure all windows and doors are secure.
