Former Dean of the USNA Chapel to preach at Annapolis Lutheran

Alan cares for people and strives to bring an incarnational ministry of presence to others. He is also a deeply experienced executive with over 20 years of international leadership in complex organizations. Having served many years as a military chaplain, he provided worldwide ministry to sailors and marines both in and out of combat. Alan’s pastoral proficiency also included leading a San Francisco Bay Area church of 5,000 attendees and 85 full-time staff.

Baker currently supervises chaplains serving military, health care, industrial, campus, and correctional organizations throughout and beyond the United States. His public service spans from Dean of the Chapel at the U. S. Naval Academy to the Presidential nomination and Senate appointment as Rear Admiral. He is also a Senior Fellow at the U.S. Naval Academy’s Stockdale Center of Ethical Leadership.

A graduate of Annapolis, Alan also earned a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and is ordained by the Reformed Church in America. He also holds a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Baker is an adjunct professor at both seminaries.

He enjoys playing harmonica and is affectionately known by his nickname “Blues.” Alan and his wife, Marla, live in Annapolis, Maryland. They have two beautiful grown daughters and two wonderful son-in-laws. You can discover more information on Alan at www.stratfoundations.com
