Annapolis police arrest third suspect in 2014 Victor Parkway murder

Screenshot 2015-08-21 09.30.19On August 20th Annapolis Police detectives with the help of the Maryland State Police Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Service arrested a third suspect, Tyrus Brown, 27, of Annapolis in the 2013 killing of John Ray.  On March 16th and 18th of 2014 Tahzay Brown, 24, of Glen Burnie and Todd Brown, 25, of Annapolis were arrested for their roles in the same crime.  They are currently awaiting trial.

On April 21, 2013 officers responded to the 200 block of Victor Parkway for a report of a possible shooting.  Officers found John Ray, 32, of Huntingtown in a vehicle.  John Ray was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.  Through investigation Annapolis Police Department detectives determined that Tahzay Brown and Todd Brown were responsible for the murder of John Ray.  Detectives continued the investigation after the arrests of Tahzay and Todd Brown and discovered that Tyrus Brown, 27, of Annapolis also played a role in the murder of John Ray.  On June 17, 2015 an arrest warrant was issued for Tyrus Brown.  

“This arrest was the result of relentless investigation and excellent teamwork,” said Police Chief Michael Pristoop.  “There was solid work by detectives, and now we are hopeful justice will be served in criminal court.”

 Tyrus Brown was charged with first and second degree murder and 18 other criminal counts relating to the murder.  Tyrus Brown is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
