4 in hospital after Brooklyn Park motorcycle crash

traffic-accident iconOn August 14th 2015 at approximately 9:37pm officers responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on Ritchie Hwy southbound & Cedar Hill Lane in Brooklyn Park.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a blue Honda motorcycle was southbound on Ritchie Hwy when it struck the passenger side of a blue Acura making a u-turn from northbound Ritchie Hwy. The two occupants of the Honda, both wearing helmets, were catapulted from the motorcycle and taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with critical, life threatening injuries. The driver and passengers in the Acura were taken Harbor Hospital with minor injuries.

The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be the Acura’s left turn into opposite direction traffic but a contributing factor appears to be excessive speed by the Honda. There were no signs of alcohol use.
