2.2 magnitude earthquake strikes Anne Arundel County near Crownsville

Crownsville Earthquake

A small 2.2 magnitude earthquake shook some homes in Anne Arundel County late last night.  Shortly after 10:00pm, residents in Crofton, Crownsville, and West Annapolis began to report a loud boom along with a very brief shaking.

The reports were very scattered. Nothing was felt in the Bay Ridge section of Annapolis nor in the Parole section.

According to authorities, the quake was centered in Crownsville, not far from the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds or the Crownsville State Hospital.

There were no reports of any damage other than sporadic power outages from BGE.
