Walmart Foundation donates $75K to Light House BEST Program

walmart-foundationThe Walmart Foundation announced a $75,000 contribution to The Light House Shelter, to support the organization’s B.E.S.T. (Building Employment Success Training) program. It is an initiative that provides employment training in culinary arts and facilities maintenance to those who are homeless or at risk of homeless gain sustainable employment skills that will allow them to make a living wage and afford permanent housing. The funding will also support the shelter’s overall mission to help rebuild lives with compassion by providing shelter and services to prevent homelessness and empower people as they transition toward employment, housing and self-sufficiency.

“We are extremely grateful to the Walmart Foundation for their support and shared vision to provide opportunities for individuals to gain employment skills that will ultimately improve their quality of life,” said Elizabeth Kinney, Executive Director of The Light House.
