County Executive Steve Schuh, along with Police Chief Tim Altomare, States Attorney Wes Adams, Councilman Derek Fink and Pete Smith and state officials, cut the ribbon on the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s new Eastern District Police Station in Pasadena this morning.

“This $9 million, new Eastern District Police Station will provide a first class facility for a first class police department,” said Schuh. “It will be a place the public will appreciate, and criminals will fear.”

Representing officers shot in the line of duty, Corporal Larry Adams, Corporal Bill Hicks, and Corporal Doyle Holquist each raised the flags for the new complex during the ceremony that took place outside the new station.  Construction on the project began in August 2013 and was completed in early April.

The County Executive also highlighted the crucial public safety investments in the recently enacted FY 2016 budget including:

  • Funding for 20 new public safety personnel to help address the growing gang and heroin problems in the county.
  • A new, $11 million police training academy that will give our police a training environment worthy of the dedicated officers that protect our community.
  • A $6 million central booking facility to ensure an efficient and effective booking process in the county.
  • A 3% mid-year compensation increase for public safety personnel.

“The budget enacted last week will assist police in their mission through increased staffing and investments in our public safety infrastructure,” said Schuh.  “The plans we have laid out in this year’s budget are just the beginning of an effort to make our police department is the best staffed, best equipped, and best prepared force in our entire state.”
