Overcome math anxiety at AACC

Math Confusion

math-phobiaDon’t let past struggles in a math keep you from pursuing your educational or career goals. Anne Arundel Community College is offering free, two-hour Overcoming Math Anxiety workshops this summer that will give you new approaches and the confidence to succeed in college math courses.

The workshop leader will discuss recent research findings in neuroscience revealing what works for learning math, explain the steps necessary to master math skills and provide tips to help you remember what you learn — including complicated math formulas. Many other practical topics will be covered such as selecting the right math course level and format, taking the math placement test, conquering math avoidance, procrastination and cramming, and using effective reading strategies for a math textbook. Strategies to use before, during and after a math test also will be discussed.

Four summer workshops are scheduled, and no preregistration is required. People unable to attend an in-person workshop can take the online version by visiting http://bridge2success.aacc.edu. In-person workshops are:
