Jury finds Glen Burnie man guilty in 2014 attempted murder case

guiltyAnne Arundel County State’s Attorney Wes Adams announced today announced that 23-year-old Ronnie Rashid Downs was found guilty by and Anne Arundel County jury today of attempted second degree murder in the double shooting of 26-year-old Reginald Butler and 25-year-old Reno Green, as well as first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, use of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, and carrying a handgun.

“My office is focused on using all of our resources under the law to hold defendants accountable who have a reckless disregard for life,” said State’s Attorney Wes Adams. “I am pleased that in just under 3 hours, the jury came to a decision that removed this dangerous individual from our streets.”

Downs faces a maximum of up to 100 years in prison.  He will be sentenced on July 11th by the Honorable Michael Wachs who presided over the trial.

Mr. Adams thanked the Annapolis Police Department for their work on this case.
