County department of aging recognizes co-worker for national conference presentation

AA Department of AgingThe Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities proudly recognizes Sanya Smith for recently presenting a workshop at the AIRS International Conference in Dallas, Texas, on the future of Information and Referral/Assistance in relation to innovative outreach.   

Ms. Smith, along with a team of professionals of the Information & Assistance Program within the Department of Aging and Disabilities, is part of the AIRS Program (Alliance of Information and Referral Systems).  AIRS is a professional membership association consisting of individuals, agencies, community organizations, governmental departments and others helping connect people to the services they require.  AIRS builds a high-quality community information and referral sector, pulls various providers and interests together, and provides a consistent, uniform level of quality and professionalism. 

The department also commends Sanya on becoming one of the first in the country to receive the new Certified Information & Assistance Specialist for Aging and Disabilities (CIRS-A/D) Certification.   Before March 15th, 2015, the certification was only for Aging.  Since then, Disabilities has been added to the certification.  Ms. Smith’s certification is part of an ongoing effort for the entire team in the Information & Assistance Program to become certified.  The department commends Ms. Smith on her hard work and dedication to achieve this goal.
