AACC athletics wins sportsmanship prize for sixth time

Anne Arundel Community College Athletics has won the 2014-2015 Jack Cistriano Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) Sportsmanship Award for the second consecutive year and for the sixth time overall.

In announcing the award to AACC coaches, staff and team members, Athletics Director Duane Herr said, “I commend each and every one of you for your character and positivity in representing Anne Arundel. This award notices the sportsmanship of our staff, coaches, assistant coaches and athletes. You are all outstanding role models for our students, community and visitors.”

The award recognizes colleges’ actions toward opponents from the moment they arrive on campus as well as the behavior of players, coaches, staff and fans during the on-field contest. The award is named for Jack Cistriano, who spent more than 30 years in intercollegiate athletics in the MD JUCO and served on several National Junior College Athletic Association sports committee while the NJCAA Regional Director for 28 years.
