SPCA’s Walk for the Animals wins big

Over 2,300 animals lovers showed up to support the SPCA of Anne Arundel County’s 24th Walk and Run for the Animals on Sunday, May 3rd at the  beautiful and scenic Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis.  Every year this event draws in thousands of participants and their four-legged friends.  “Thanks to our generous donors, we have exceeded our goal of $220,000 and more than $230,000 was raised to help the SPCA’s lifesaving mission,” said Kelly Brown, Board President of the SPCA of Anne Arundel County. “We are very fortunate to have such great support of so many people in our community.”  The 5K event had 210 registered runners who ran along a picturesque path at the park and some participants brought their dogs. The fastest runner came in at 20 minutes and 17 seconds!

As guests registered for the WALK event, they were met with an array of food & drink vendors, live music, and the SPCA’s very own Lucky Dog mascot. The Vendor Village was packed with over 100 vendors which included Community businesses, veterinarian hospitals, local rescue groups, and other non profits. While on their walk throughout the park, walkers stopped to view over 70 exotic & collector cars on display for the 3rd annual Cars & Critters Car Show.  Whether they were participating in the Walk or Run, patrons had the opportunity to test their dog in the agility course or just relax on the field and watch the Anne Arundel County K9 Police Dog Demonstration.

For those who were unable to attend and would like to support, please visit the event website at www.spcawalkfortheanimals.org. Your contribution to the SPCA will make a significant impact to improving the lives of the many homeless animals in their care.

The SPCA’s Walk and Run for the Animals event was presented by Graul’s Market of Cape St. Claire and Annapolis.
