LSO concludes season with “Mastery & Triumph”

Anna BinnewegThe Londontowne Symphony Orchestra’s 2014-15 season will conclude with the concert Mastery & Triumph at Broadneck High School on Saturday, June 6 at 7:30 PM.

The program will highlight the German masters Brahms and C.M. von Weber. Brahms was fearful that he could not write symphonies like Beethoven so waited many years before trying. But when his Symphony No. 1 was finally written, its majesty was an instant success triumphing over his fear. Weber mastered a diagnosis of tuberculosis by accepting a lucrative commission in London in order to provide for his family after his death. The result was his last major work, his 10th opera, Oberon. He composed his masterful Overture to Oberon in three days, just before its premier.

The LSO is also pleased to feature trumpeter Rene Hernandez of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in Oskar Böhme’s Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra. It will certainly be a season finale filled with passionate, memorable and heartfelt melodies that you won’t want to miss!

This concert is family-friendly and appropriate for all ages. Tickets may be purchased over the phone at 410-562-8920, online at lso-music.org/tickets, or at the door of the event. General admission is $15, senior tickets are $10 and student admission is free.
