Former Central Middle School teacher arrested for child pornography

The Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Abuse Unit initiated an investigation into possessing and distribution of child pornography.  During the investigation into child pornography distribution on the internet, evidence was developed by child abuse detectives that led to a search warrant being executed on April 10, 2015 at a residence in the 300 block of North Hammonds Ferry Road, Linthicum, Maryland.

During the search detectives secured various pieces of computer equipment as potential evidence.  The evidence was secured and submitted to the Anne Arundel County Digital Forensics Lab for analysis.  As detectives searched the computer, apparent images of child pornography were located.

​As the investigation progressed a suspect was identified in the possession and distribution of the child pornography.  The suspect was identified as Dan Kevin Scott, who resides in the 300 block of North Hammonds Ferry Road, Linthicum, Maryland.  Mr. Scott is currently employed as a teacher for the Baltimore City Public Schools and teaches at Patterson High School.  Mr. Scott had in the past taught students for the Anne Arundel County Public Schools at Central Middle School as an English teacher.

​Mr. Scott was arrested and charged with five (5) Counts of Possession of Child Pornography and five (5) Counts of Distribution of Child Pornography.  As this is a very fluid and active investigation the Anne Arundel County Police are urging anyone with information to come forward by calling Child Abuse Detective Joshua Williams at 410-222-3484.  If people with information wish to remain anonymous they can also contact the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line 410-222-4700or Metro Crime Stoppers.

​The Anne Arundel County Police Department is an affiliate of the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which is comprised of police agencies from around the state. Its primary mission is to protect children from computer-facilitated sexual exploitation. The Task Force works cooperatively with law enforcement agencies and prosecutors to provide resources to combat these crimes. Additionally, the Task Force provides community awareness campaigns helping to prevent the spread of these crimes through education.
