Flights from BWI to Cuba to begin in September

Cuba-Travel1Island Travel & Tours, Ltd. announced that charter flights between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and Havana, Cuba will begin on September 30, 2015.  The charter service will be offered by Island Travel & Tours, along with its partner, Swift Air.  The flights are scheduled to operate twice per week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

“We are very excited about providing this historic new service to Cuba from our Nation’s Capital and the Greater Baltimore region, and these new flights will make our client’s visit to the island more convenient and enjoyable,” said Bill Hauf, President of Island Travel & Tours, Ltd.

BWI Marshall received U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) approval in 2011 to handle passenger charter air service to and from Cuba.  There are currently 19 airports in the United States authorized for Cuba service, according to CBP.  BWI Marshall is the only airport in the region with the CBP approval.  Island Travel & Tours is a licensed charter operator authorized to offer the service from BWI Marshall  The charter flights will be operated by Swift Air on Boeing 737-300 aircraft with 126 seats, including 12 first-class and 114 coach seats.
