The Child Development Center at Anne Arundel Community College met 10 early childhood program standards and more than 400 quality standards to receive reaccreditation through 2020 by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

“Our dedicated and professional teachers take great pride in being nationally accredited,” says Janet M. Klenkel, director of the center. “This accreditation is the ‘gold standard’ accreditation in the early education field.”

The center provides early education and child care to children ages 2 to 5 years old. Klenkel says that in addition to providing parents with assurance that their children are in an excellent learning environment, the center also wanted to provide a model program for the college’s early education students who do fieldwork in CDC classrooms.

AACC’s CDC was first accredited 10 years ago. About 6,500 early childhood programs are accredited through NAEYC. For information about its programs, visit http://www.aacc.edu/cdc.
