Annapolis police arrest suspect in attempted rape downtown

Marcus SnipesEarly Saturday morning (215am), Annapolis police responded to the 100 block of Duke of Gloucester Street  for a reports of a woman screaming. 

They located an adult female who reported that a man she had met that night attempted to rape her and had fled the area.

After a brief search, Annapolis police officers located Marcus Snipes, 23, of Severn in the unit block of Shipwright St.  He was positively identified by the victim,  arrested and charged with attempted rape, attempted sex offense, assault, reckless endangerment, and false imprisonment.  He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.

Snipes is former football player and standout basketball player  St. Mary’s in Annapolis and Meade High School. Snipes played football at Lackawanna Junior College, University of Richmond, Mercyhurst College  and the University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky. Snipes was suspended form the University of Richmond for his involvement in theft of cash and credit cards from fellow students in the dormitories.
