Alison Shipley receives specialized training for balance therapy

alison-1In an effort to meet the increasing demand  for balance training and vestibular evaluation and rehabilitation a physical therapist at Fitness Forum Physical Therapy has recently completed training in the area of vestibular and balance rehabilitation. We are privileged to announce that Alison Shipley, DPT has now received specialized training in vestibular rehabilitation and balance training at the nationally recognized American Institute of Balance Education Foundation in Seminole, FL.  This course has allowed Ms. Shipley to obtain her certification as a vestibular management therapist and progresses her current knowledge base to improve treatment strategies with patients with dizziness and balance disorders.

Dizziness is the third most common complaint to doctors among the general population, exceeded only by headaches and lower back pain. Vestibular rehabilitation programs for patients with equilibrium disorders provide them with a successful alternative management strategy, allowing them to return to normal lives.  In regards to complaints of vertigo, dizziness or imbalance, patients no longer have to be told to “learn to live with it”. Since it has been estimated that 76 million Americans will experience dizziness or balance problems in their lifetime, the need for this type of treatment is evident.

For additional information on the specialized services offered for balance and vestibular disorders at Fitness Forum Physical Therapy or to schedule a free consultation to determine if you are a candidate for this program, please call our Annapolis office at 410-295-4941.
