Celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Mitchell Gallery at St. John’s College and learn the historical connections between silver and the role it played in the history of our city, state, and nation. Silver Day on May 15th, provides opportunities to tour the U.S. Naval Academy silver treasures as interpreted by Senior Curator James Cheevers. A luncheon at the U.S. Naval Academy Club,, and afternoon lectures at St. John’s College with noted experts: Thomas R. Dawson, Dawson Gallery,; Elaine Rice Bachmann , director of Artistic Property at the Maryland State Archives and Mark B. Letzer from the Maryland Historical Society conclude with a Silver Tea and Wine Reception catered by Reynolds Tavern and a silver leaf on Vellum demonstration by artist Jean Brinton Jaecks.
