Teens invited to submit for AACPL Library Happenings! cover contest

Anne Arundel County Public LibraryTeens ages 11 to 18 are encouraged to submit their best artwork inspired by this year’s theme, “Back to School,” in AACPL’s 5th Annual Teen Cover Art Contest.

The winning artwork will grace the cover of the Fall 2015 issue of Library Happenings!, the system’s newsletter, and the artist will receive a $100 gift certificate to Art Things in Annapolis. A second prize winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Art Things.

Teens are asked to submit artwork between March 1 and March 31, 2015. Entries will be shared on AACPL’s Facebook and Tumblr pages during National Library Week (April 12-18).  The winner will be announced April 17.

Artwork will be on display at the Crofton Community Library between April 10 and April 30. A reception for all participants and their families will be held at the Crofton Community Library on April 30 at 7 pm.

Entries can be dropped off at any Anne Arundel County Library location, or emailed to [email protected]. All entrants must have an Anne Arundel County Public Library card, and must include the entrant’s name, age, library card number, phone number and email address. March is also “Art in Our Schools Month” at the Anne Arundel County Public Library! All month, each of AACPL’s fifteen branches will display artwork created by students from schools in Anne Arundel County.

Young artists from local elementary schools and their families are invited to celebrate their artwork on display in our libraries at one of three receptions:

  • Annapolis Regional Library:  Wednesday, March 25 from 6 to 8 PM
  • Deale Community Library:  Thursday, March 5 at 4:30 PM
  • Linthicum Community Library:  Tuesday, March 3 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM

“This is a wonderful opportunity both to highlight the creativity of students in Anne Arundel County and bring people into the library,” said Library CEO Skip Auld. “We’re very grateful to have partnered in this venture with Anne Arundel County Public Schools for more than 15 years.”
